The Sheboygan County SaberCats improved to 3-0 on the season with a dominating 34-6 win over the Lake County Spartans Saturday.
The game started off as a defensive battle, with no score through the 1st quarter, but the dam burst in the second.
A sustained drive into the red zone ended with a five-yard touchdown pass from Antonio Fontanez to Ashon Anderson to break the tie (1:08.30).
The run game continued to work wonders for the Cats and was highlighted by a 40-yard run by Riquel Lollis (1:21.10), and a 15-yard run by Junior Combs (2:00.50).
The passing game picked up steam as the game went on with Anderson snagging a 48-yard TD in the 3rd (2:30.00) and Steve Strong pulling in a 38-yard TD (2:47.42).
The Cat’s defense was stifling, as they only allowed a single touchdown in the 3rd quarter, and picked up several interceptions and sacks.
Up next for the SaberCats is a matchup against a Milwaukee area team known as The Show.
Both teams enter this coming Saturday’s contest at 3-0 with kickoff at Lakeland University set for 7:00 p.m.
