
The debt ceiling agreement received a split vote from the two U.S. Senators from Wisconsin.
Republican Senator Ron Johnson voted against the deal with the House Republicans, while Democratic Senator Tammy Baldwin supported it.
Johnson referred to it as a “disastrous deal” and claimed that it only contains the barest minimum of spending restraints.
Baldwin claimed that she supported the proposal in order to protect veterans and the elderly as well as to prevent a national debt default.
