A major housing project in Two Rivers has received a bit of a setback.
City Manager Greg Buckley tells us that the Council met with Kip Golden, who was representing The Confluence LLC as they prepare for the construction of an apartment building in the downtown area.
The project is planned for the former Eggers property, which is along the East Twin River, south of 20th Street and East of East River Street.
Buckley tells us that an amendment is being made to the original development agreement, “which moved some of the deadlines for final design, proof of project financing, (and) commencement of construction back by a couple of months.”
Buckley and the council were reassured however that the project will still begin in 2023.
“The Confluence is proposing ultimately two buildings,” Buckley explained. “The first building, they are now discussing a possible 71-unit building, which would be six stories, market-rate apartments with some fantastic water views right along the East Twin River.”
The new start date is expected to be by October 1st.
The City purchased the former Eggers property roughly three years ago and has created a Tax Incremental Financing District, which has helped them with the development of the prime piece of real estate.
