A section of Manitowoc’s Reed Avenue is scheduled to be closed starting next Tuesday for reconstruction.
Mayor Justin Nickels included this reconstruction project in many of his road work updates over the past several months, and Engineering Division Manager Greg Minikel tells us it is ready to begin.
The closure will affect the area between North 8th and North 2nd Street, however, the contractor will ensure that there is always one lane of traffic heading east from 8th Street for access to the Lincoln Park Zoo.
Reconstruction work will start on the north side of Reed Ave., then, near the middle of August, work will begin on the south side.
The detour route will be on Bayshore Drive to Waldo Blvd. to North 8th St. and then back to Reed Ave.
It is anticipated that the entire project will be finished and the street completely reopened to all traffic around October 27th.
