A not-guilty plea was submitted by the woman accused of driving drunk and killing a man last month.
48-year-old Paula Mejia was in Brown County Court Monday where she entered her not-guilty plea on charges of Intoxicated Use of a Motor Vehicle, Homicide by Use of a Vehicle with a Prohibited Alcohol Content, Injury by Intoxicated Use of a Vehicle, and Injury by Use of a Vehicle with a Prohibited Alcohol Content when a Passenger is Under 16.
The crash occurred on April 12th, when the Hobart-Lawrence Police Department says Mejia crossed the center line on French Road.
She then hit an SUV head-on, killing a 46-year-old Hortonville man and critically injuring his 14-year-old son.
Mejia’s next court date isn’t until August, and she is free on a $25,000 cash bond.
