The Wisconsin Assembly passed a Shared Revenue Bill Wednesday evening, and a local Assemblyman is among the legislators who voted in favor.
Rep. Paul Tittl tells SeehaferNews he was “please to vote yes” on the measure, which passed by a 56-36 margin.
Notably, three Republicans voted no along with all of the Democrats.
Their argument is the bill is incomplete.
As for why he voted yes, Rep. Tittl of Manitowoc noted that local governments haven’t gotten a raise in the program since 2004 when Jim Doyle was governor.
The measure, which now heads to the Senate, calls for a 15% increase in shared revenue, which would go to helping local governments and their emergency services, public works, and transportation.
With the increase, Manitowoc County would be getting over $1.16 million from the state on top of its current allocation, while the City of Manitowoc would be bumped up just shy of $1.13 million.
