The most recent Wisconsin initiative to restrict the titles available in school libraries may result in legal disputes over “obscene materials.”
Republican state representatives Scott Allen and Andre Jacque are seeking support for their proposal to outlaw obscene materials from school libraries and give parents the right to bring legal action against librarians who breach the law.
The laws are referred to by Allen as the Protect Childhood Innocence plans.
According to Allen, the goal is to establish responsibility for anyone distributing graphic sex-themed literature or images in a public school.
Anyone who is focused on teaching, he claims, has nothing to worry about.
