
The season did not start quite the way the Manitowoc County Mariners were hoping, as they fell to the visiting Illinois Cowboys 28-12.
According to Team President Marcos Alfaro, QB Marcos Alfaro II went 12 for 18 for 206 yards, 60 of which went on one play to Gage Lindberg of Two Rivers who took it to the house.
Manitowoc Lincoln graduate Malcome Young also scored on the ground.
Defensively, Dan Jansen lead the Mariners at Rubick Field with 8 tackles, while Ethan Limon had an interception and 6 tackles.
Noah Broderson and Lance Billings also recorded interceptions.
The Mariners will look to rebound this Saturday as they take on the Wisconsin Ravens. Kick-off is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. at Ron Rubik Municipal Field in Manitowoc.
