For the third time in three days, the Sheboygan Fire Department was called to the scene of a fire.
Crews were sent to Torke Coffee, located at 3455 Paine Avenue at 9:45 Thursday morning where they found heavy smoke coming from the roof vents.
All of the employees had evacuated, so the firefighters went to work. One of the employees explained that a coffee roster had caught fire, and crews were able to quell the flames within about 10 minutes.
The blaze was contained to the roaster and appeared to have caused minimal damage to the rest of the building, however, smoke had to be ventilated.
Assistant Fire Chief Michael Lubbert is using this case as a prime example of the importance of businesses having an evacuation plan and practicing it with all employees.
