The Assembly Republicans’ shared revenue plan includes a lot more restrictions for Milwaukee and Milwaukee County than just not spending money on The Hop.
Republicans unveiled their complete strategy Tuesday.
Any additional sales tax revenue must only be used for Milwaukee and the county’s pensions, and Milwaukee and the county must persuade voters to increase the sales tax.
After those pension debts are settled, the tax would be removed.
The Fire and Police Commission’s “control and management” rules would also be transferred to Milwaukee’s fire and police commanders under the Republican plan.
Republicans also want to reintroduce school resource officers into buildings and mandate that Milwaukee Public Schools recruit at least 25 of them.
