Yesterday evening we received a citizen report of a fire taking place in a field near Killsnake State Wildlife Area on Highway 151 and Highway 67.
We reached out to the Kiel Fire Department who confirmed that the Wisconsin DNR was conducting a controlled burn in that area, and no calls for service were received.
The citizen told us that the smoke from the flames could be seen as far away as New Holstein.
