There is a new phone scam, according to the Dane County Sheriff’s Office.
A woman claims she just received a call from a person posing as a sheriff’s deputy informing her that she has an outstanding arrest warrant and must pay $4,000 to have it lifted.
According to the sheriff’s office, the woman refused to pay the money after realizing the hoax.
