The plan to alter Wisconsin’s unemployment system is progressing, but it isn’t making much headway.
Republicans in the State Assembly passed measures tying unemployment benefits to the state’s unemployment rate Tuesday, requiring those receiving unemployment to actively seek employment and accept offers of employment, and requiring individuals to demonstrate their eligibility for BadgerCare.
No Democrat cast a vote in favor of any of the proposals.
The reforms now head to the Wisconsin Senate, where they’re expected to pass, before going to Governor Evers who will almost certainly veto them.
