A Reedsville man has been arrested after he allegedly stole lottery tickets and failed to report “winnings” on his tax returns.
Matthew Buchholz has been charged with Theft of Movable Property Between $10,000 and $100,000, Theft by False Representation between $2,500 and $5,000, and three counts of Fraud/Rendering Income Tax Return or Obtaining a Refund with Fraudulent Intent.
Police reports say Buchholz took the scratch-off tickets from his place of employment over the span of three years and then cashed in the winnings.
It is estimated that he took in more than $300,500 from the tickets, and then failed to report this “income” on his taxes.
If convicted on all charges, Buchholz could spend as many as 31 and a half years in prison.
