In anticipation of what might result in statewide flooding, Governor Tony Evers issued an executive order Tuesday putting Wisconsin’s emergency responders and the National Guard on high alert.
The governor claims that due to recent rainfall and snowmelt, rivers and streams are increasing.
In Eau Claire and the area of Portage, there are already road restrictions.
The Mississippi River in La Crosse is reportedly approaching significant flood status, according to the National Weather Service.
More rain is expected this weekend, according to forecasters, so the situation could worsen.
