A Manitowoc man is facing charges after he allegedly stole from Piggly Wiggly and attempted to flee from police.
Officers were sent to the store located at 1339 North 8th Street at 6:30 Monday morning on a report of a man who locked himself in the bathroom with merchandise in his pocket.
An employee at the store spoke with the responding officers, noting that the man had taken a package of cookie dough and socks into the restroom.
When the man exited the restroom, he said he was changing his socks and eating a little bit of the cookie dough, but planned on paying for it.
When he was told he was under arrest the 29-year-old man attempted to flee.
He was quickly taken to the ground and placed in handcuffs.
While being searched, the officers located a concealed knife and a multi-tool.
He was booked into the Manitowoc County Jail on charges of Retail Theft, Resisting an Officer, Carrying a Concealed Knife, and one count each of Felony and Misdemeanor Bail Jumping.
