The annual celebration of Wisconsin’s favorite grilled sausage is not happening this year in Sheboygan.
The Sheboygan Jaycees announced on Monday that they have canceled their annual Bratwurst Days festival, which has been around for the past 70 years.
Those who are big fans of the event don’t need to worry, as the organization has stated that this is not a complete dissolution of the event, just a one-year hiatus as they are working with a limited amount of manpower.
The first Brat Days celebration was held in the 1960s, but that was also canceled, only to return as German Days in 1970.
The name would change two more times, once to Sheboygan Days, before it returned to its original name in 1978.
