Patricia M. Duffy, 81, loving wife, mother, teacher and proud grandmother, died on April 5, 2023, at home surrounded by her family, after a long illness.
Mom was born September 7, 1941 to Marie and George Ahearn on their first wedding anniversary. She attended St. Luke’s grade school and graduated from Two Rivers High School in 1959. She went on to further her education at Holy Family College in Manitowoc, WI earning a bachelor’s degree in education in 1963. She began her teaching career with the Milwaukee public school system before moving back to the Lakeshore area to teach in the Two Rivers Public School System where she taught for 38 years. On May 13, 1966, she met Francis Duffy at Vans Bar and Grill and it was love at first site. On July 29, 1967 they were married at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Two Rivers. They were married for 44 years before Francis’ passing in 2011. Mom loved the Christmas season and gave our family many magical memories. She also loved sewing, baking and enjoyed spending time with her family during our Friday “Meals on Wheels” dinners. She was very generous with her time and talents and supported her granddaughters by attending and cheering them on at many basketball and softball games.
She is survived by her children, Tom, Erin (Ethan) Granger and Karrie Duffy; grandchildren: Delaney, Ana and Harper Granger; two sisters: Mary (Phil) Rehrauer, Marge (Don) Zimmer, and two sisters-in-law Mary Jane (Ken) Vogel and Jody Ahearn; as well as beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Francis; brother Tom Ahearn; in-laws Jack Wozniak, Don and Jaquelin Paulus, William and Charlotte Duffy and Thomas Duffy.
The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Francis of Assisi on Waldo Blvd., Manitowoc, Friday, April 14, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00 a.m. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. The family would like to thank her twin guardian angels, Mary and Marge, whose love and support guided us through her many doctor appointments and hospital stays. Neighbor Steve who helped us keep up with yard work, Dayna her home health nurse, Tammy her hospice nurse and our sister Karrie. Their continuous support allowed us to fulfill mom’s final wishes.
