It may not exactly feel like it, but spring is here, and with that comes the spring cleanup at Manitowoc’s Evergreen Cemetery.
The City of Manitowoc’s Cemetery Division is asking those who have placed decorations on loved ones’ grave sites to clear all winter decorations by April 15th.
Any items not removed by that date will be disposed of by cemetery staff.
On that day, new decorations and flowers can be placed on the graves.
There are some limitations, as perennials or plants which have thorns, thistles, or burs are not allowed.
Annual flowers can be planted in baskets, urns, or in the ground in a flowerbed, but any flower urns not planted for three consecutive years, which are not part of a permanent marker will be removed.
Also, the maximum size of a flowerbed is one foot away from the marker and to the width of the marker.
