The harbor in Two Rivers may be getting a complete redesign by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
In his City Manager Report, Greg Buckley noted that city leaders held a virtual meeting with the Chicago District Office of the USACE, where it was confirmed they would undertake a “design deficiency analysis” of the federal harbor.
This study will determine whether design changes might alleviate longstanding problems with shoaling in the harbor channel and wave action coming down the channel and causing hazardous conditions in the inner portion of the harbor.
Staff with the Corps of Engineers are expected to make a trip to the Cool City in May to get a close look at the harbor and make a decision.
