The City of Green Bay is getting a $1 million grant to create an Office of Violence Prevention.
Governor Tony Evers made that announcement while at the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Green Bay.
This initiative is intended to address the violent crime rate in the city through deterrence, tracking the contributing factors, developing strategies for reduction, and identifying individuals who are at risk.
Police Chief Chris Davis called this the next step in the city’s strategy to curb gun violence in the city, which had been on the rise over the past several years.
The $1 million grant is expected to fund the Office of Violence Prevention in Green Bay through its first year.
