The Appleton Police Department is asking the public to change their nighttime routine.
In a post on Facebook, the Department reminds residents to “make it a habit” to remove valuables from their vehicles, lock their vehicles, close and lock their garage and exterior doors, and turn on exterior lights.
These are simple tips you can add to your nightly routine to help ensure you are not the next victim of a theft. Generally speaking, thieves look for targets of opportunity, such as open or unlocked doors.
The Appleton Police Department is working with the Neighborhood Watch Group to help spread the word and help keep everyone safe.
