An 80-year-old woman is dead and another male sustained injuries following a home explosion early Friday morning in The Town of Newton.
Manitowoc County Sheriff Dan Hartwig says emergency services responded to the call of a residential explosion at 9436 Newton Road about 5:15 a.m.
A preliminary investigation indicates that two individuals and a dog were occupying the residence at the time of the explosion.
An 80-year-old woman was found deceased inside the residence and pronounced dead at the scene.
A 56-year-old male was transported by ambulance for unspecified injuries sustained in the fire while the dog was transported to an area veterinarian.
Identities of the victims are not being released at this time and an autopsy will be scheduled on the deceased female.
No other information is being released pending the completion of an investigation by The Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office, State Fire Marshal and The Newton Fire Department.
