The Green Bay Metro Fire Department is saying that a hotel room fire early yesterday morning was set intentionally.
Crews responded to the Days Inn & Suites on East Mason Street at around 2:15 a.m. on a report of an active fire alarm.
Engine 421 arrived to find some light smoke and a burning smell in one of the hallways.
When they located the source of the fire, crews were able to extinguish the flames from the outside of the building before forcing their way in.
The individual in the room was said to be uncooperative, so the Green Bay Police Department was called in to assist.
While the reason is yet unknown, the occupant of the room was believed to have set the fire intentionally.
The incident caused an estimated $10,000 in damage.
