The Department of Human Services of Mississippi wants a judge to keep Brett Favre as part of their lawsuit to get back welfare money that was misappropriated.
Last week, DHS lawyers in Jackson, Mississippi, asked the judge not to let Favre leave the case.
Although Favre has not been accused of a crime, there is evidence that he was involved in a scheme to waste millions of dollars that were supposed to go to families in need.
The state, according to Favre’s lawyers, is using his celebrity status as a distraction from the real criminals in the case.
