Mayor Justin Nickels shares the official city plans for improvement coming in 2023.
Projects range from road construction to new development along the lakeshore. Reed Avenue is one main street that is in the works for renovation this year.
Nickels announces that the bids are now also open for various projects in the River Point District, including “Boat docking, kayak launch, public walkways, fish stations, cleaning up the old wall where the old Carferry used to dock, things like that. Extending Chicago Street, kind of filling out some of the infrastructure over there.”
Nickels addresses the difficulty the city has been having with resource availability and pricing in the past year.
He tells Seehafer News that past jobs have been pushed back because of the supply line issues last year.
One of these includes park renovations.
Nickles explained, “We have…six smaller parks that are going to be redone this year, with new playground equipment, so we’re freshening a lot of those things up.”
The mayor also mentions that funding for these projects comes from the TIF districts, so money will not be taken from the taxpayer’s pockets.
He tells the public that now is the time to bid on these exciting, upcoming developments.
