Marian E. Skarvan, age 89, of Manitowoc, died Thursday morning, March 2, 2023, at Sylvan Crossings of Maritime Gardens, Manitowoc.
The former Marian Orth was born on June 24, 1933, in Manitowoc, daughter of Edward and Elizabeth (Kaiser) Orth. Marian grew up in Manitowoc and attended local schools. On September 13, 1952, Marian was married to Paul Skarvan at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Manitowoc. He preceded her in death on May 12, 2021. The couple farmed in the town of Kossuth, later moving to Kellnersville, and finally moving to Manitowoc. Marian was also a nursing assistant at Holy Family Hospital. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi, Kubale-O’Connell VFW Post #6179 of Kellnersville Auxiliary, the Carmelites and Our Lady of Fatima Devotions. She enjoyed crafting, sewing, and clowning.
Survivors include two brothers and two sisters-in-law: Francis Orth, Manitowoc, John (Carolyn) Orth, Wisconsin Rapids, Rita Mae Orth, Kellnersville; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents and sixteen siblings.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 11, 2023, at St. Francis of Assisi on Marshall (1114 South 21st Street, Manitowoc). The Rev.’s Jason Blahnik and Richard Klingeisen will concelebrate the Mass of Christian Burial with burial at the Knollwood Memorial Gardens. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Saturday from 9:00 AM until the time of services at 11:00 AM.
