About a week after a judge ordered they be shut off, the Green Bay Council has voted to remove audio devices completely from City Hall.
The measure, which passed on a 9-3 vote, requires the devices be removed, but also that all of the collected recordings be destroyed, pending the outcoming of the ongoing litigation.
The Council also passed on a 9-3 vote an ordinance amendment that puts the ability to install new listening devices on the Council, not the mayor.
The controversy all began last month when Alderman Chris Wrey submitted a petition to remove the devices, which the Council was never informed about before they were installed.
Senator Andre Jacque has filed a lawsuit against the City of Green Bay, as well as Mayor Eric Genrich.
