There is a significant sign of progress this week at Central Park in downtown Two Rivers.
Parks and Recreation Director Mike Mathis was on WOMT’s Be My Guest Program Wednesday, where he revealed that a construction crew is beginning to tear down the old bandstand as part of the Central Park 365 renovation project.
“Locally based Vinton Construction Company is the lead contractor for starting their work and they’re ahead of schedule to begin getting the park in place,” he said. “They’re going to be doing concrete work and taking down that old bandstand very soon.”
Mathis explained it’ll be impressive to see when finished.
“We’re going to have a really great state-of-the-art sound system, lighting system. It’s going to be a beautiful structure and be kind of similar to the Rotary Pavilion on Neshotah Beach,” he noted. “The site has looked a little half-done recently because we’ve been waiting on all the back ordered equipment to finish all that up, but we’ll be making progress on that as we get into spring.”
The local department leader said, “once they get the concrete pad down for the stage, it’s going to be plenty big enough for all of the performances they plan to have there.”
