
Five area employers have been awarded a portion of $3.8 million in grants issued by the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development.
As a part of its Fast Forward Worker Training Grant program, the DWD is splitting the money between 24 employers in order to provide new or increased wages for 1,415 trainees across five high-demand sectors.
In Manitowoc County, Federal-Mogul is getting just over $127,000 as they provide training to 195 incumbent workers.
Three Sheboygan County businesses also made the cut.
Masters Gallery Foods was granted just shy of $300,000, Nemak USA received nearly $369,000, and Old Wisconsin Sausage Company got just over $96,000.
In Brown County, the Green Bay Area Public School District was granted nearly $217,000 as they partner with the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay to provide training to 15 incumbent staff members.
