The Wisconsin legislature wants to make the Merit Scholarships at the University of Wisconsin permanent.
Lawmakers will hold a hearing on a plan to eliminate the scholarship deadline Wednesday (March 1st).
Merit Scholarships are currently scheduled to end next month.
The state’s sunset clause would simply be removed by new legislation.
Students who achieve outstanding grades and test scores are eligible to receive $5,000 in UW Merit Scholarships.
