The Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office has released more information about a six-car pileup last night on I-43.
According to Sheriff Dan Hartwig, a total of 26 incidents are being investigated by his department, including the six-car incident, which occurred just south of Highway JJ at 6:45 p.m.
The preliminary investigation of that crash shows that a pickup truck hauling a trailer lost control while traveling north, causing it to jackknife and enter the east ditch.
A semi that was following the truck also lost control and entered the median, which caused a 25-year-old Marinette woman to collide with the semi.
She suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Froedtert Holy Family Memorial Hospital in Manitowoc.
A Lamers bus also hit the semi, but the driver was the lone occupant and was uninjured. In unrelated crashes, a FedEX box truck and a straight truck entered the ditch in that area.
Speed, visibility, and road conditions are said to have been factors in these crashes.
