Up to a foot and a half of snow is expected to hit the lakeshore area over the next 24 hours or so, and plow crews around the area are ready.
We spoke with Two Rivers City Manager Greg Buckley yesterday, and he told us the five plow trucks and two salt trucks in Two Rivers are “always ready” for a winter weather system.
“We have got plenty of salt in the sheds, and our public works director works closely with the streets superintendent as far as strategy (and) plan of attack,” he explained.
That plan of attack includes a focus on the main arterial streets, known as salt routes.
“Those may get plowed multiple times before some of the side streets do,” he explained. “That is just in the interest of general traffic circulation, and safety. The ability to get resources out in the case of an emergency.” 12
And since there is a good amount of snow expected, Buckley has reenacted the winter parking ban.
This means they are “asking people to get off the streets overnight or face a ticket for several nights in a row.”
A parking ban is also in effect for the City of Manitowoc.
Buckley also informed us that while he did not have all of the details, he knows that his public works team uses some form of brine as well as salt.
