Jerome “Jerry” J. Singer, age 89, a Manitowoc resident, entered eternal life on Wednesday, February 15, 2023 at Froedtert Holy Family Hospital in Manitowoc.
Jerry was born on June 15, 1933 in Manitowoc. He was the son of the late Anton and Julia Kaminski Singer. Jerry attended Lincoln High School and graduated with the class of 1951. He was employed with Kornely Dairy followed by employment by the Manitowoc Public School District from where he retired. Jerry was a volunteer driver for the Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Department and received recognition in 2017 for 266 volunteer service hours. On September 27, 1952 he married Dolores Petzke at Holy Innocents Catholic Church in Manitowoc. In 2010 Jerry was recognized by the Lakeshore All Sports Hall of Fame for volunteering for over 30 years ticket taking and service to the Manitowoc Public School District athletics. He enjoyed hunting and fishing in Canada, North Dakota and Lake Michigan. Jerry loved to travel going over to Europe three times, traveled across the United States from the East Coast to the West Coast. He loved San Francisco, New York City where he attended many Broadway plays, and the state of Alaska. Jerry enjoyed dancing the waltz and polka and had a beautiful singing voice. He was also proud of his “green thumb”.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Dolores Petzke Singer, one son, Joseph Jerome (Amy) Singer, Manitowoc, three daughters, Cynthia Singer, Brown Deer, Kay (Jim) Hebel, Fond du Lac, Lori (Carl) Sieracki, Manitowoc; one sister, Bonnie (George) Neumann, Manitowoc; eight grandchildren, six great grandchildren and one due in June 2023; along with other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Anton and Julia Singer, one son, Michael, one brother and two sisters-in-law, Tony (first wife Dorothy Haws) (2nd wife Emily) Singer, two sisters and brothers-in-law, Dorothy (Gene) Lewis and Marge (Jerry) Brandl.
Private memorial service for the family will be held in March at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home. Officiating will be Carl Sieracki, son-in-law. A luncheon for the family will be held at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center. Burial will take place at a later date at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Cemetery in Wilton, WI. Cremation has taken place at the Harrigan Parkside Crematory and Chapel.
