A Manitowoc man has been hit with his 7th OWI.
An officer was on patrol just after 8:00 Friday evening when he heard a car speed off in the area of the 300 block of North 9th Street.
The officer recognized the vehicle, and knew it belonged to a 53-year-old man with a felony warrant for his arrest.
The officer was able to pull the vehicle over in the 1000 block of South 14th Street, and when the window was rolled down, the officer noted the smell of alcohol.
The officer also noted an open can in the car.
The man gave the officer a false name and address, while reportedly speaking in a slurred style of speech.
After being told they knew he was not who he claimed to be the man admitted his real identity and that he had consumed “two or three beers”.
A field sobriety test was conducted, which the man failed, so he was arrested for OWI, his 7th offense.
He was also found to be in possession of marijuana, so he was charged with Obstructing an Officer, Possession of THC, Drug Paraphernalia, and a Controlled Substance where Prohibited, and one count each of Felony and Misdemeanor Bail Jumping.
