In their final home game of the season, the Manitowoc United JV hockey team tied Marinette 3-3 Saturday on Parent’s Night.
The Thunder started the scoring 3 minutes into the 1st period, with a powerplay goal. The second period was all Manitowoc.
Landon Nienow netted the equalizer four minutes in with an assist going to David Klein.
Captain Benson Dickrell would slam home a powerplay goal 6 minutes later with helpers going to Aragon Jack and Myles Dekok.
It looked as though the game would enter the 3rd with Manitowoc holding a 2-1 lead, but Senior Walker Lindboom, in the final home game of his career, would snipe a shot over goalie Glenn Woodworth’s shoulder with no time left on the clock.
The goal would count, and Manitowoc would take a 2-goal lead into the final frame.
The Thunder would score another powerplay goal halfway through the period and would use precise tape-to-tape passing to tie it up with just under 2 minutes to play.
Both teams would hold on, and the game would end in a 3-3 tie.
Manitowoc Goalie Dan Karlin had several stellar saves, including a breakaway stop to keep Manitowoc in it for the majority of the contest.
He would end up with 26 saves on the night. Manitowoc will take a couple of days off before they travel down south to take on the WNS Co-Op at the MSOE Kern Center on Tuesday.
