An individual from the lakeshore area made a substantial donation to the Wisconsin Maritime Museum’s 28 Boats, 28 Days Campaign.
On February 8th, the museum received a $28,000 check from an anonymous donor for the campaign which aims to raise funds for the dry docking of the World War II submarine USS Cobia.
The donor saw the museum’s social media fundraising campaign, 28 Boats, 28 Days, to raise money for the upcoming substantial preservation efforts for the USS Cobia and recognized the need to preserve her.
They also saw the importance of Cobia in the community.
The museum has been asking for $28 donations in honor of the 28 Manitowoc-built submarines, but this donor decided to add a few more zeros to the check.
Emily Shedal, Wisconsin Maritime Museum Development Coordinator, reacted to the donation, saying “We are extremely grateful for this generous donor’s donation. Now we hope to keep the momentum going.”
