It was a feisty back-and-forth battle, but in the end, the Manitowoc United JV hockey team fell to Marinette 4-3 Friday night.
Benson Dickrell started off the scoring for Manitowoc with an unassisted goal 5 minutes into the first period.
Marinette would tally one with 35 seconds left in the first, but Derek Bailey would sneak on under the pad of goalie Glenn Woodworth halfway through the second.
Marinette would again score with less than a minute left in the second to knot it up, but United would take a 3-2 lead early in the third when a Josee Busse shot was redirected by Landon Nienow on a powerplay.
Marinette would knot it up again four minutes later and would score the game-winner shortly after.
All of the Thunder’s goals were scored on the powerplay. Goalie Dan Karlin would wind up with 43 saves on the night.
Manitowoc and Marinette will face off again Saturday night with a scheduled start time of 5:00 p.m. at the Manitowoc County Ice Center.
