Two state legislators from the lakeshore area are taking the lead on trying to keep prescription drug prices down.
Assemblyman Paul Tittl of Manitowoc and Senator Andre Jacque of De Pere are the co-writers of a bill known as All Copays Count.
In a statement, the duo explained that the bill “ensures Wisconsin health plans and pharmacy benefit managers count copay assistance towards patient cost-sharing requirements.”
Sixteen other states and Puerto Rico have already enacted a similar policy.
Rep. Tittl noted that “This is about patient access to treatment,” as “Most patients who rely on copay assistance do not have access to generic alternatives for their condition.”
Sen. Jacque pointed out that the bill has bi-partisan support, and said, “If you have cancer, epilepsy or any other serious health condition, the last thing you should have to worry about is whether you’ve met your deductible.”
