A second deer has been confirmed to have contracted Chronic Wasting Disease in Sheboygan County.
This doe, which was between 4 and 5 years old, was collected by a hunter in the Town of Lyndon during the 2022 gun deer season.
The DNR has now enacted a three-year baiting and feeding ban in Sheboygan County effective February 1st, as per state law.
This recent positive also renews the two-year baiting and feeding ban already in place in Fond du Lac County.
Baiting and feeding encourages deer to congregate unnaturally around a shared food source where infected deer can spread CWD through direct contact with healthy deer or indirectly by leaving behind infectious prions in their bodily fluids and waste.
