As the American Red Cross continues to monitor seasonal challenges that could impact the blood supply, like the weather, donors are urged to make and keep appointments to help prevent a shortage in the weeks to come.
Donors of all blood types are needed, particularly type O blood donors as it is the most needed blood group by hospitals.
Also, platelet donors are needed daily to meet demand.
There are two local blood donation opportunities over the course of the next week at the Kiel Community Center (510 3rd Street) on Wednesday, February 8th from noon to 5:00 p.m.
The following day, Thursday, February 9th at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church (325 Randolph Street) between 1:00 and 6:00 p.m.
You can book a time to give blood or platelets by calling 1-800-RED CROSS, visiting RedCrossBlood.org, or by downloading the Red Cross Blood Donor App.
