Ground has been broken on a new water system for the Village of Denmark as they begin joining the Central Brown County Water Authority.
In early 2022, village officials voted in favor of joining the Authority, and, in May 2022, it became official during a document signing event.
Since then, engineers from the village and the Authority have been working to complete the design of the system that will link Denmark to the Authority’s water system.
Additionally, the water for that system comes from Lake Michigan through Manitowoc Public Utilities.
That deal was forged by former Manitowoc Mayor Kevin Crawford.
Denmark Village President Susan Selner explained the decision, saying “We were facing significant challenges with water quantity, and the decision to join the Authority will provide our community with a long-term, abundant, and high-quality water source that not only addresses our current needs but will be an asset in the years to come as the village continues to grow.”
Construction is anticipated to be completed in early 2024 with water flowing to the community.
