Marcella “Sally” J. Geiger, age 97, a resident of Manitowoc, WI entered eternal life on Friday, January 27, 2023 at Aurora Medical Center in Two Rivers.
Sally was born on June 8, 1925, in her family home in Cato, WI to the late Peter and Rose (Stefl) Gosz. She graduated from Reedsville High School. On May 9,1964, Sally married Leroy Geiger at St Mary Parish Reedsville. He preceded her in death on July 26, 1990.
Sally was a resident of Cato until 1993 when the relocation of Highway 10 forced her to move to Manitowoc. She was a proud Cato resident and frequently called it “my little piece of heaven”. Sally was a founding member of the Cato Hilltop Homemakers. She worked at Schuette’s Department Store and Mirro Corporation until she became a full-time wife and mother. Sally was an active member of St. Mary Parish, Reedsville and then St. Francis of Assisi Parish when she moved to Manitowoc. She lived her faith and touched the lives of the many people she came in contact with.
Leroy and Sally loved gardening especially growing raspberries and red geraniums. She was an avid needleworker especially applique quilting. Sally enjoyed baking and Saturdays were her designated “baking day” for family dinners on Sunday. Kolaches were her specialty, and she was one of the best Bohemian Bakers. Sally was a dog lover her entire life. Her grand dog, Rocky brightened her days.
Survivors include Sally’s two daughters, Rose Ann (Craig) Kowitz, New Berlin, WI, and Joan Geiger, Manitowoc; two grandchildren, Peter and Mary Kowitz, New Berlin, WI; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ken and Beatrice Geiger, and Lenore Endries; grand dogs, Rocky and Bailey; and godchildren, Sue Stark, Sandy Coenen, Ann Marie Krejcarek, Virginia Pieschel and John Geiger. She was a special “adopted grandma” to the family of Greg and Susie Riederer, and their children- Carl, April, Katrina, Josie, Katie and Carl, Jr. She is also survived by and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Sally was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers and sister-in-law, John and Helen Gosz, and Fr. Isadore Gosz; two sisters and brother-in-law, Mary and Paul Rohrer, and Florence Brunner; and brother-in-law, Roman Endries.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 4, 2023, at St. Francis of Assisi on Waldo, 1121 North 14th Street, Manitowoc. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Doug LeCaptain with burial to take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Reedsville. Following the Mass, a luncheon will be held at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center located on the south property of the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home. The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Francis of Assisi on Waldo from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the

Also, special thanks to Nancy Eis for helping care for our Mom at home, and the Activity Department of Shady Lane for making her last December extra special.
