Both teams were throwing their bodies around last night in Sheboygan as the host team beat Manitowoc United 4-3.
Sheboygan jumped out to a 2-0 lead 11 minutes into the first period, but a Derek Bailey shot found the back of the net with just 10 seconds left in the period to keep Manitowoc in it.
Then, two and a half minutes into the second, Landon Nienow scored to knot it all up heading into the final frame.
Sheboygan would score again, but Reed Neuser would take matters into his own hands, snagging a loose puck and skating the length of the ice before deking goalie Jack Senpitner and tying it up at 3 with four minutes to go.
It would remain tied until a scrum in front of Manitowoc goalie Daniel Karlin ended with the puck landing on the stick of Caden Helmer, who would score the game-winning goal with 58 seconds remaining.
Karlin ended the game with 30 saves, while Manitowoc put 15 shots on Jenpitner.
Neuser, Benson Dickrell, and Sam Hinz would tally assists for Manitowoc, whose next game is scheduled for February 10th at the Manitowoc County Ice Center.
Coach Mark Hinz and his players will also be at Brix in Manitowoc on Monday for an episode of WOMT’s Sports Talk program.
Everyone is invited to stop in to listen to the show, or tune in to WOMT Radio following the 5:00 p.m. news.
