During this week’s Madison Update, Senate Majority Leader Devin LeMahieu informed us of a few things happening at the capital.
First, he spoke about an advisory referendum that will appear on the April election ballot.
The Oostburg Republican told Seehafer News that the question will read “Should able-bodied, childless adults be required to look for work in order to receive taxpayer-funded welfare benefits?”
This is the second advisory referendum announced for the Spring election, with the previously announced question focusing on bail reform.
LeMahieu also told us that he officially introduced a flat tax bill which he called a “tax cut for everyone.”
“Right now the vast majority of you are paying 5.3% on your earnings in Wisconsin,” he explained. “With my plan, you will pay 3.25%.”
He went on to say “We find ourselves in a unique position to provide this kind of transformational tax reform for the residents of Wisconsin. Our focus on the Senate will be to help the hard-working families across Wisconsin that are struggling with inflation, not to grow government and spend more of your hard-earned money.”
