A very impressive list of six former Shipbuilder athletes or coaches will be added to the Lincoln High School Wall of Fame Friday night (January 27th) at Manitowoc’s JFK Fieldhouse.
Wall of Fame induction ceremonies will occur during halftime of the Ships FRCC game against top-ranked De Pere.
Ron Blomberg – A 1945 graduate who earned the nickname of the “Old Professor” as a color commentator on Milwaukee Bucks and Wisconsin Badgers games. He also served as an assistant G-M of the Bucks.
Alyssa DeZeeuw – A 2016 Lincoln grad excelled in Gymnastics and in fact was voted USA Today’s Wisconsin High School Gymnast of the Year. She was a Division-1 NCAA athlete on the Rowing team at Madison and is now completing her medical school degree.
Gary Dickert – A 1971 graduate, lettered 9 times in 3 sports before earning a scholarship to the University of Wisconsin where he was a member of the Badgers football team all four years.
Frank Granitz – Earned 16 letters as an athlete at Messmer High School in Milwaukee and later was a runningback at Wisconsin. Known as “Fundamental Frank”, he taught and coached baseball, basketball and football at Lincoln for more than 30 years.
Dick Hall – A 1959 graduate, was outstanding for the Ships in basketball and tennis, where he teamed with Brian Eisner as state doubles champion. He later played those sports at Michigan State and became a Big 10 individual tennis champion for the Spartans.
Dale Haupt – A 1948 graduate, lettered in both football and baseball before earning a scholarship to play football at Wyoming. He would star for the Manitowoc Chiefs, become a finalist in the Golden Gloves Boxing tournaments and as an NFL defensive line coach helped the Chicago Bears win Super Bowl XX in New Orleans.
