The Manitowoc Police Department is warning citizens of a scam involving Xfinity Comcast.
According to Sargent Paul Krock, scammers have been contacting individuals through email and phone calls and claiming to be an Xfinity representative.
The scammer then offers a discount on Xfinity Comcast services once the victim provides the scammer with a prepaid gift card.
SGT Krock says “Like many other scams, this scam requests the victim to operate with a sense of urgency by informing them that this ‘discounted promotion’ is only valid for a limited time. It’s important to remember that Xfinity Comcast and any other legitimate business will never request a payment be made using a gift card.”
Anyone with questions on the legitimacy of a phone call or email is always encouraged to contact the company directly and report the scam to your local police department.
