The Manitowoc Noon Rotary has named their Officer and Citizens of the year.
Police Chief Nick Reimer while on WOMT’s Be My Guest program last week announced that Officer Bruce Tuma was named Officer of the year.
Chief Reimer explained that Officer Tuma was selected because he “does a terrific job for us, has a great attitude, does a lot of field training, and has taken on a lot of leadership roles. As a matter of fact, we had made an announcement earlier that he is going to be promoted to Lieutenant.”
As for the Citizen of the Year award, the Chief said it actually went to two people, Bob and Maria Forester.
“They have been interpreting for us for over 20 years, and do an amazing job,” Reimer said. “[They] come out at all hours of the night and help us with Spanish translations.”
Chief Reimer explained that while police officers sign up to see some of the negativity in the world today, Bob and Maria also experience just as much as the officers do.
For that, he praised the duo saying, “they are one phone call away, it doesn’t matter what time, day or night.”
