The Two Rivers City Council is looking to the DNR for monetary help with an affordable housing project.
City Manager Greg Buckley tells us that during its Monday meeting, the Council approved an application to the DNR’s Wisconsin Assessment Monies program.
Any money received would go toward the environmental assessment of the property on the West Twin River where the West River Lofts would be built.
“That is a formal industrial site,” Buckley explained. “They have run into some environmental conditions that require some further investigation and possible remediations.”
That property used to be home to the Eggers West Plant, which is now owned by Milwaukee developer Scott Crawford Development.
That area is also covered by TID 17 and will be the home of a 55-unit building.
