Manitowoc United goalie Daniel Karlin had another stellar game but didn’t get any offensive help in a 2-0 loss to Waupaca last night.
The Comets scored a pair of back-to-back goals 2 minutes into the game, but Karlin was a stone wall after that.
He notched 21 saves in the second period alone, and 19 more in the third giving him a total of 50 on the night.
Meanwhile, his team struggled to get anything going and was held to only 20 shots and only four in the second period.
Penalties were a problem for both teams, with United sending players to the box 8 times, while the Comets tallied 7 penalties.
Despite the lack of scoring, Coach Mike Hinz spoke highly of his players saying, “It was a better performance…than our last matchup, and given that we were away and playing a very quality team I’m pretty happy with the effort the kids put out most of the night. Dan Karlin was fantastic in goal, making some beautiful saves and helping us keep the game tight through three periods.”
United is back in action this Friday as they will take on Appleton Xavier at the Manitowoc County Ice Center.
The puck will drop at 4:30 p.m.
